Thank You Jesus

Happy Thanksgiving Wise Writers! I hope you are enjoying your Thanksgiving with delicious food and lovely company. Today’s poem is going to be one about my faith. I believe in Jesus and trust Him. With today being Thanksgiving, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a poem of gratitude that I wrote to Jesus. This poem is called Thank You Jesus.

Thank You Jesus

Thank you Jesus.

I adore you.

Thank you for guiding the way.

I don’t know where I’d be without you.

Thank you for providing comfort.

Thank you for your never ending, undying love.

Thank you Jesus.

Thank you for dying on the cross for me.

I wouldn’t be here without you in my life.

Thank you for forgiving all my sins.

I’m made new because of you.

Thank you Jesus.

Where would I be without you?

I don’t deserve you.

You give yourself away each day.

I just wanna say thank you Jesus.

You always provide a way.

Thank you Jesus.

You save the day.

Thank you Jesus.

I love you.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and take time to reflect on what you’re thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving beautiful people!

If You Were to Ask

Hey Wise Writers! I am going to continue with the theme of family. This is the last poem I will be sharing about family. This poem is about my dad. I am very close with him and I enjoy sharing my love for him through my writing. This poem is called If You Were to Ask.

If You Were to Ask

If you were to ask me about my dad, I would say he is the best dad a girl could ever have.

But... if I were to give you a deeper understanding, I would say

He shows love not only through his words, but his actions too.

He never wants to be the center of attention in the room.

He works tirelessly every day to provide for his family.

He brings life to the room just by walking in.

He is the life of the party.

Although you would never know it.

He protects his children from this evil world.

In spite of not always being heard.

He is the most selfless person I know.

It is him that we adore.

The inspiration for this poem was Eleven’s speech about Hopper in Stranger Things. I  am so blessed and fortunate to have a beautiful, loving relationship with my dad. However, I know it is not common anymore and that makes me sad.

If you don’t keep in contact with your dad or don’t have a dad, I want to give you a piece of encouragement. Jesus is the best father. Run to him when you are struggling and feel lonely. He knows our hearts and desires. He knows every thought before we ever bring it to Him.

How I Picture Your Insecurities

Hello Wise Writers! Today’s poem is going to be about family as well. This poem is about my mom. My mom has always struggled with her body and had insecurities about her body. I wrote this poem to showcase how I view her insecurities. I hope this inspires you. I’m looking forward to all of you reading it. This poem is called How I Picture Your Insecurities.

How I Picture Your Insecurities

The stomach that you hate carried 4 beautiful babies.

You carried us in the arms that you critique.

The legs that you dislike walked miles to rescue us from danger.

God counted each hair on your head that you don’t like.

God gifted you with a beautiful body that is amazing and works well.

He calls you fearfully and wonderfully made.

The face that you cover in makeup has kissed so many babies cheeks.

The sun has hit your face and you shine bright.

Your eyes have seen beautiful sunsets, stars, and the moon.

Your ears have heard praises of what a great mom you are and teachings of the Bible.

Your hands have made homemade dishes that we cherish.

Your mouth has tasted great cuisine.

The nose you think is too big has smelled your mom’s homemade cooking and the scent of candles.

Be nice to your body. A part of it is on each and every one of our bodies.

An Ode to my Sister

Hi Wise Writers! Today’s poem will be about sisters. I have a little sister who I love and adore. I wrote this poem in honor of her. My next few poems will be about my family. My family is very important to me and I cherish them. Today’s poem is titled An Ode to my Sister.

An Ode to my Sister

Bright blue eyes that light up the sky. A laugh that lightens the room. A goofy spirit that no one can take away. The biggest heart that no one can replace. Pain that didn’t drown you. It only lifted you higher. You didn’t let them ruin your spirit. If only they wanted to hear it.

I know not everyone is close with their family, but I want this to be a reminder of what a good relationship with your sibling/siblings can look like. I wrote this at a painful time in my sister and I’s life. It brought us closer together. I know it sounds crazy, but pain can bring people closer together. I challenge you to reach out to someone in your family just to tell them you are thinking about them and love them. It could make their day, and bring you joy. Family is crucial. They are who lift you up when you fall down.
