Christmas Begins

Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year Wise Writers!

It is time for Christmas and all of the holidays. I love Christmas. It has always been my favorite holiday since I was a little girl. This is a song I wrote about Christmas. This song is called Christmas Begins.

Christmas Begins

Snow on the ground.

Hot cocoa in my hand.

Winter has just begun.

Hanging my stocking upon the tree and wondering what Santa will get me?

The mistletoe hangs above me.

I have no man to kiss.

Holding a candy cane in my hand.

Waiting for Christmas to begin.

It’s a white wonderland.

Joy fills my soul.

I allow blessings to overflow.

Jesus is looking down below.

Reindeers guide Santa through the sky.

Girls and boys happily wait for him to arrive.

It’s a white wonderland.

Snow covers the ground.

Coffee stays in my hand.

The candles start to burn.

Christmas begins.

I wish you all a wonderful, joy-filled holiday season. I hope you spend it with family and friends. Remember, it is not about the gifts, but the company around us. Have a Merry Christmas!

This Kind of Love

Hey Wise Writers! I hope you are all enjoying this fine Thursday and getting prepared for the holidays. The poem I will be sharing with all of you today is about love. Specifically, it’s about my perfect idea and fantasy of love. I am a hopeless romantic who has nearly impossible standards and relies on tv shows and romance books to fulfill my unrealistic expectations. This poem is titled This Kind of Love.

This Kind of Love

I want the kind of love where we go on ice cream runs.

Dance in the rain.

Belly laugh until we cry.

Where we’re best friends and nothing will tear us apart.

The kind of love that you see in the movies.

I want to curl up next to you and watch rom-coms.

Lay my head on your chest and feel like I’m at home.

Carelessly prance through the street holding hands.

The kind of love where our eyes meet and sparkle.

Where we grow gray and old.

This is why we focus on the inside because our looks will fade.

I want to know every detail about you.

Know your favorite places to go.

Favorite food.

What makes you feel at home?

What makes you excited?

Go on spontaneous adventures.

Star gaze while laying on the grass and talking about our future.

I want a love that glorifies God’s name and leads me closer to Him through you.

I know it’s unrealistic, but that’s why it's a dream.

Thank You Jesus

Happy Thanksgiving Wise Writers! I hope you are enjoying your Thanksgiving with delicious food and lovely company. Today’s poem is going to be one about my faith. I believe in Jesus and trust Him. With today being Thanksgiving, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a poem of gratitude that I wrote to Jesus. This poem is called Thank You Jesus.

Thank You Jesus

Thank you Jesus.

I adore you.

Thank you for guiding the way.

I don’t know where I’d be without you.

Thank you for providing comfort.

Thank you for your never ending, undying love.

Thank you Jesus.

Thank you for dying on the cross for me.

I wouldn’t be here without you in my life.

Thank you for forgiving all my sins.

I’m made new because of you.

Thank you Jesus.

Where would I be without you?

I don’t deserve you.

You give yourself away each day.

I just wanna say thank you Jesus.

You always provide a way.

Thank you Jesus.

You save the day.

Thank you Jesus.

I love you.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and take time to reflect on what you’re thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving beautiful people!

If You Were to Ask

Hey Wise Writers! I am going to continue with the theme of family. This is the last poem I will be sharing about family. This poem is about my dad. I am very close with him and I enjoy sharing my love for him through my writing. This poem is called If You Were to Ask.

If You Were to Ask

If you were to ask me about my dad, I would say he is the best dad a girl could ever have.

But... if I were to give you a deeper understanding, I would say

He shows love not only through his words, but his actions too.

He never wants to be the center of attention in the room.

He works tirelessly every day to provide for his family.

He brings life to the room just by walking in.

He is the life of the party.

Although you would never know it.

He protects his children from this evil world.

In spite of not always being heard.

He is the most selfless person I know.

It is him that we adore.

The inspiration for this poem was Eleven’s speech about Hopper in Stranger Things. I  am so blessed and fortunate to have a beautiful, loving relationship with my dad. However, I know it is not common anymore and that makes me sad.

If you don’t keep in contact with your dad or don’t have a dad, I want to give you a piece of encouragement. Jesus is the best father. Run to him when you are struggling and feel lonely. He knows our hearts and desires. He knows every thought before we ever bring it to Him.

How I Picture Your Insecurities

Hello Wise Writers! Today’s poem is going to be about family as well. This poem is about my mom. My mom has always struggled with her body and had insecurities about her body. I wrote this poem to showcase how I view her insecurities. I hope this inspires you. I’m looking forward to all of you reading it. This poem is called How I Picture Your Insecurities.

How I Picture Your Insecurities

The stomach that you hate carried 4 beautiful babies.

You carried us in the arms that you critique.

The legs that you dislike walked miles to rescue us from danger.

God counted each hair on your head that you don’t like.

God gifted you with a beautiful body that is amazing and works well.

He calls you fearfully and wonderfully made.

The face that you cover in makeup has kissed so many babies cheeks.

The sun has hit your face and you shine bright.

Your eyes have seen beautiful sunsets, stars, and the moon.

Your ears have heard praises of what a great mom you are and teachings of the Bible.

Your hands have made homemade dishes that we cherish.

Your mouth has tasted great cuisine.

The nose you think is too big has smelled your mom’s homemade cooking and the scent of candles.

Be nice to your body. A part of it is on each and every one of our bodies.

An Ode to my Sister

Hi Wise Writers! Today’s poem will be about sisters. I have a little sister who I love and adore. I wrote this poem in honor of her. My next few poems will be about my family. My family is very important to me and I cherish them. Today’s poem is titled An Ode to my Sister.

An Ode to my Sister

Bright blue eyes that light up the sky. A laugh that lightens the room. A goofy spirit that no one can take away. The biggest heart that no one can replace. Pain that didn’t drown you. It only lifted you higher. You didn’t let them ruin your spirit. If only they wanted to hear it.

I know not everyone is close with their family, but I want this to be a reminder of what a good relationship with your sibling/siblings can look like. I wrote this at a painful time in my sister and I’s life. It brought us closer together. I know it sounds crazy, but pain can bring people closer together. I challenge you to reach out to someone in your family just to tell them you are thinking about them and love them. It could make their day, and bring you joy. Family is crucial. They are who lift you up when you fall down.

Writer's Block

Good evening Wise Writers! I hope you are all doing well on this fine Thursday. The last few poems have been rather depressing. The poem I am sharing today is not necessarily upbeat or happy, but it is also not depressing. It is neutral. Today’s poem is about the struggle of writer’s block. A common struggle among all writers. I wrote this poem trying to write a poem for my dad on his birthday. This is one of my favorite poems. I can’t wait for y’all to read it!

Writer’s Block

So many thoughts in my head swirling around. Can’t put pen to paper. Every time I do, I just erase it. So many ideas trapped inside this brain of mine. Feels like none of them are good enough. Will I be judged? Pressure mounts up. Feel like I can’t breathe. Want to impress the crowd. Frustration boils over. Why can’t I write something groundbreaking and earth shattering? Relax. Breathe for a moment. It will come on its own. Let it flow. Trust the process. All so clichè. My writing will come to life, one day.

I hope this poem encourages you. You can do it. Take your time and write a little bit at a time. Keep writing even if you don’t like what you are writing. Sometimes, our worst rough drafts become our best final drafts.
